Parade Magazine Votes Laurel Treehouse as one of the Coolest Treehouses in America, 2018!
Relaxation in the Treetops
The Treehouses are accommodations of the Inn. All are located in one building in an area that is secluded from the main Inn which make the Treehouses the most private and secluded accommodations of the Inn. Although the Treehouses are not free standing structures in trees, they give one the feeling of being in a Treehouse in how each accommodation is accessed, the views from the inside of each accommodation looking out, the views from each deck and from the scale, size and layout of each one.

VIEW DECKS
Experiencing the outdoors during our High Season months at Fire Mountain is the ultimate luxury provided in the Highlands. July is the hottest month of each year in the Highlands and the air feels like velvet on your skin. Add to that no humidity and insects and you feel that you are basking in the ultimate experience on top of the world. As a result alfresco dining on top of Fire Mountain is one of the many ultimate experiences provided at our boutique mountaintop resort.
BONFIRE PIT
You can catch and enjoy a sunset from in front of a bonfire! Every Saturday evening we light a large bonfire on top of Fire Mountain starting an hour prior to sunset that will lift your heart after your evening meal, weather permitting of course. Bring a blanket and your favorite refreshment and enjoy the bonfire into the evening hours. Sculptor, Kevin Pind, created the fire pit in 1996 which is made from large stones found and retrieved from different parts of Fire Mountain.
LIBRARY
One of the most popular areas at Fire Mountain! Located in the main lodge building of the Fire Mountain Inn this is a wonderful indoor area for lounging, relaxing, reading, enjoying a fire in the large hand laid fireplace made of native stone, and taking in the views. This large area is filled with overstuffed slip covered couches, a significant book library and photography book collection to enjoy along with tables and chairs for those card and board games that some folks love to enjoy.

You know how sometimes you just get lucky?
That’s how we felt about finding Fire Mountain Inn. The setting and hospitality were just right – it was a completely private experience where you could relax, but if you wanted information, the owners were spot on with recommendations. Because of them, we experienced nearby beautiful hikes, great dining and where to pick up a gourmet take out dinner to eat while watching an amazing sunset on the property.
Our room in the Treehouse was spotless and we loved the artwork on the walls and outdoor sculpture. We usually hike very early in the AM, but couldn’t tear ourselves away from relaxing by the infinity pool and gazing at the long mountain view. It truly is a respite.
Our only regret was not making reservations in advance for dinner. Our breakfasts were delicious and the menu was creative and fresh with lovely service. Next time, we’ll be planning in advance for a massage in front of those mountains and dinner at Fire Mountain Inn.
Perfect place to relax and renew. It’s also lovely to take the 15-minute drive into Highlands for shopping and meals. Cannot wait to go back!

The view is beyond words; the setting is pastoral and forest; the owners are pretend family; the tastes are southern stirred with worldly.
Our room in the Treehouse was minimal rustic chic with a sunset view and a sense of being alone in the woods. We slept with the sliding door open, taking advantage of the mountain breezes. (Note: There is no individual room temp control.) The library was a perfect place for my husband to work from his laptop and for me to sip lemon ginger tea, browse a photography book of West North Carolina log cabins, and take in the astounding autumn color blanketed in white mist. Hiram, Matthew and Whitney provided a wealth of information for hikes, food, and Asheville trends. The inn is an ideal location if you like a quiet retreat ten minutes from the amenities of town life.

We just returned from our stay at Fire Mountain Inn, and we are already planning a return trip!
The environment and experience Matthew and Hiram have created for their guests is truly one of a kind. We have stayed in many hotels, resorts and inns across the country and beyond…and Fire Mountain Inn is now at the top of our list! We stayed in the Laurel Treehouse. The view was spectacular, and we really enjoyed having our own private walkway to our room. I would highly recommend taking the time to enjoy the breakfast daily and book their dinner for one of your evenings. They are more of an experience than simply just a meal (Matthew is a talented chef to say the least!). We cannot wait to book another trip!
