Experiencing the outdoors during our High Season months at Fire Mountain is the ultimate luxury provided in the Highlands. July is the hottest month of each year in the Highlands and the air feels like velvet on your skin. Add to that no humidity and insects and you feel that you are basking in the ultimate experience on top of the world. As a result alfresco dining on top of Fire Mountain is one of the many ultimate experiences provided at our boutique mountaintop resort.
BONFIRE PIT
You can catch and enjoy a sunset from in front of a bonfire! Every Saturday evening we light a large bonfire on top of Fire Mountain starting an hour prior to sunset that will lift your heart after your evening meal, weather permitting of course. Bring a blanket and your favorite refreshment and enjoy the bonfire into the evening hours. Sculptor, Kevin Pind, created the fire pit in 1996 which is made from large stones found and retrieved from different parts of Fire Mountain.
LIBRARY
One of the most popular areas at Fire Mountain! Located in the main lodge building of the Fire Mountain Inn this is a wonderful indoor area for lounging, relaxing, reading, enjoying a fire in the large hand laid fireplace made of native stone, and taking in the views. This large area is filled with overstuffed slip covered couches, a significant book library and photography book collection to enjoy along with tables and chairs for those card and board games that some folks love to enjoy.

Our second visit to Fire Mountain surpassed the first!!
The addition of the Fire and Water Restaurant made this absolutely beautiful place the total package. Rooms are beautifully decorated and common areas are quiet and restful. The meals are creative and wonderfully presented. Hiram and Matthew will make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. Don’t look further, this is the place!!!!!

I booked two nights at the Fire Mountain Inn for my hubby’s 50th birthday.
I booked two nights at the Fire Mountain Inn for my hubby’s 50th birthday. I was debating between Old Edwards Inn and the Fire Mountain Inn and I can’t express enough how happy I am I went with The Fire Inn! Hiram and Mathew do a great job in making sure to make the stay one to remember. The breakfast was yummy, the sunset view mesmerizing and the tranquility memorable. Throughout days of meetings i find myself day dreaming… that just says how great the stay was although not so good for productivity . My hubby can’t stop thanking me for the best birthday gift ever.
Thank you both- I hope to go back sooner than later.

My boyfriend and I recently spent a long weekend at the Fire Mountain Inn, and the experience truly exceeded our expectations.
Fire Mountain offers a stress-free relaxing getaway in the mountains like no other. We stayed in the Red Thunder room. Because the inn is perched on Scaly Mountain, we were greeted with 180 degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and gorgeous sunsets every evening.
The inn is a quick drive from Clayton, Dillard, Highlands, and several hiking destinations, putting it in a great location. Despite being close to everything, the inn still feels very secluded, perfect if you’re looking for some peace, quiet, and tranquility. The accommodations are beautiful while feeling light, airy, and one with nature.
Breakfast was delicious and offered a unique dining experience overlooking the mountains. We also opted to have dinner at the inn’s restaurant one night and were not disappointed with the lovely three-course meal. The after-dinner bonfire on the mountain capped off a magical evening.
Finally, this review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the wonderful innkeepers. Matthew and Hiram made our visit unforgettable, and they are what set the Fire Mountain Inn apart from the average bed and breakfast. Matthew and Hiram are not only genuine, hospitable, and knowledgable but clearly love what they do. We can’t wait for our next visit to Fire Mountain Inn and hope to stay in one of the charming cabins next time!
